Entitlement
An arts entitlement for children and young people
An entitlement statement is currently being discussed and updated.
The present draft:
Allocation of lesson time in each subject, at each key stage that is appropriate to the effective teaching of each arts subject.
We believe that this dedicated structure must be accompanied by significant learning opportunities in the wider curricula and school life.
Expert teaching (and the systems that skill people to be experts) in each subject. This needs to be supported by knowledge about the arts that is
shared across all school staff, in a way that impacts on all teaching
A rich, in depth folio of arts learning, including extended experiences for every student, at each key stage, in each art form.
Deep and sustained partnerships with arts practitioners, arts organisations and others in ways that impact across the whole school.
Effective, strategic and sustained networked partnerships with other schools and other agencies in the education sector. We want to see the
development of substantial collaborative activity.
A diversity of arts learning experiences that prove the richness of our cultural, social and economic lives.
Equal access to the arts so that it can be said that no child or young person has been excluded from arts learning opportunities.
